Majestic Stare
Big horn sheep near glacier national park. These are some of the most impressive animals i've ever seen. Their horns, thick muscles, intense eyes and majestic stature all combine to give a sense of power and beauty.
Bird on the Chimes
A tufted titmouse hangs out on an old set of windchimes before heading to a nearby feeder.
Alone in the Valley
A lone bull moose hangs out in many glacier valley against the backdrop of the looming mountains.
Morning Swim
Bull moose at Glacier National Park near many glacier. This moose fed in the lake for over an hour while a handful of people looked on. As the day heated up he made his way back into the forest.

Victoria Crowned Pigeon
The victoria crowned pigeon is the world's largest species of pigeon. Its brilliant blue plume and colorful body makes it stand out.
Fight for Dominance
A pair of mule deer near monterey bay CA sparring for dominance of a nearby doe. The long drought and urban environment has lead to much smaller bodied deer compared to the mid west.
Double Trouble
Two powerful bighorn rams made a breath-taking appearance on our trip to Glacier National Park. These inspiring creatures thrive in large herds on Wildhorse Island, where they are protected from natural predators.
Feeding Time
This downy woodpecker was collecting food for its young along with the female woodpecker. They would alternate and come back with bugs every 10 minutes or so for over an hour. I was able to approach the nest slowly and let them acclimate to me so they continued to work.
Friendly Boop
The Pittsburgh zoo offers and endless set of fun and exciting encounters. On this particular morning a pair of tigers was out playing and exchanging rather subdued boops to each other. Looks like a friendly pat on the head, though the massive size of their paws would have easily knocked me off my feet.
Floating Serenity
A common goldeneye duck in Kootenai lake, Glacier National Park. This secluded lake is a paradise for local wildlife, being deep in the montana wilderness with no easy access.
Call of the Wild
This exotic variety of pheasant makes his presence known at the Pittsburgh National Aviary.
Grouse in Color
This grouse was standing lookout for its nearby chicks who were hidden away in an endless field of flowers. Even with the vivid colors she blended in quite well, and while the chicks were heard they were never seen.
Horned Majesty
Wildhorse island outside of Glacier National Park is home to an impressive herd of bighorn sheep. This island is in a valley protecting the herd from both predators and the extreme temperatures of the mountains making it an ideal place for them to grow and flourish.
Off the Mountain
I watched this mountain goat descend off a nearby cliff and into the valley through the wildflowers. Their ability to scale impossibly steep cliffs is impressive and awe inspiring.
Spotted Newt
These small orange spotted newts were fairly abundant in Allegheny National Forest, and liked to hide on logs. Almost stepped on this one while we were hiking the trail.
Pelicans in Triplicate
Three pelicans soar over the beach near monterey bay CA. The splash of the surf and their impressive wingspan make quite the scene.
